by Orion on Nov.12, 2010, under Black Ops, Game News
Despite previous doubts, Call of Duty Black Ops manages to shatter all entertainment records by selling $360 Million dollars in the first 24 hours of release. Activision even doubted that it would hit the record set by Modern Warfare 2. Activision’s CEO Bobby Kotick was quoted saying that “There has never been another entertainment franchise that has set opening day records for two consecutive years and we are on track to outperform last year’s five-day global sales record of $550 million.”
One has to wonder what Infinity Ward is feeling about this considering that Treyarch has taken the throne as the new CoD Kings. Infinity Ward definatly has their work cut out for them with Modern Warfare 3. Especially now that Vince Zampella and Jason West (founders of Infinity Ward) are no longer on the roster.
Personally, as a fan of the series, I have always favored Infinity Ward. Since I have been playing Black Ops, I can honestly say that my feelings are starting to change. Check out my in depth review of the game and how it compares to Modern Warfare 2 coming soon.
Thieves Assault GameStop for Black Ops
by Orion on Nov.10, 2010, under Black Ops, Game News

According to the Baltimore Sun, two men brandishing Semi-Automatic pistols rushed into a GameStop over the weekend of Nov. 7th to steal copies of Call of Duty Black Ops. Apparently, they took over 100 copies of the game along with Xbox consoles and other items. Lets see how long it takes for the police to catch up with them. C’mon. I mean seriously. What the fuck are you going to do with 100 copies of the game? I don’t think they thought this through before doing it. Unless they have a lot of friends who are going to buy the game, they may be sitting on those copies for quite sometime. And if they don’t, it’s only a matter of time before someone becomes suspicious.

Treyarch claims Black Ops to be nearly hack proof
by Orion on Oct.28, 2010, under Black Ops, Game News

Anyone who plays Modern Warfare 2 on a regular basis knows that there are a significant amount of hacks and exploits within the game. While advantageous to those who take advantage of these exploits, it somewhat dampers the experience on legit players. Hopefully with the Black Ops release just around the corner, things will change. Treyarch has made a claim that Call of Duty: Black Ops will be nearly impossible to hack. Lets hope they are not in over they’re heads on this one. Remember kids, Infinity Ward utilized Valve‘s proprietary “Anti-Cheat” system in Modern Warfare 2 to prevent hacking and that kind of blew up in their face. Nevertheless, according to Treyarch’s tweet via JD_2020: “Yes, we have the necessary tools in #CODBlackOps to moderate the leaderboards. Furthermore, we’ll ban those who hack.” Hopefully this will do all of the legit players some justice, but I can’t say that I’m overly confident about this. Where there is software, there are bound to be hackers.
